If a mother breastfeeds her baby for 2 consecutive years (normally 2 years recommended)just after the baby was born, it is not possible for that particular mother to deliver another newborn within that two years.
During breastfeeding, prolactin, an endocrine hormone which is responsible in producing milk to be stored in mammary gland increases in vast amount. On the other hand, prolactin inhibits synthesis of another hormone, luteinising hormone (LH).
FYI, LH surge (simply means a sudden increase in LH) is a must-go-process for a woman to ovulate/producing egg.
In short, a breastfeeding mother who posseses a high level of prolactin and scant amount of LH has a pretty low probability to ovulate/producing egg. Therefore, there should be no fertilization and embryological process occuring.
Siblings whose the age gap in between is less than 2 years reflects that the mother stoppped breastfeeding even before the infant reached 2 years old. Formulated milk yoh.
